With a large collection of religious art, this museum is situated in Seville's cathedral, in the heart of the historic centre. Highlights include numerous paintings, magnificent sculptures, antique furniture and gold work.
Museum open: Monday to Saturday - 10:00 to 17:00, Sunday - 10:00 to 13:00

Founded in the mid-19th century, this Seville museum is situated in an old convent which was built in 1612. The convent, the former Convento de la Merced Calzada, has been beautifully and sympathetically restored to create one of the finest museums in Seville. Housing a wide range of interesting collections, including ceramics and pottery, gold and silver works, weapons and Spanish art and sculptures, ranging from medieval to modern. The convent church is part of the museum complex and features a magnificent Baroque ceiling that has recently been restored, which was painted in the 18th century. There are three large courtyard areas, with formal planting and fountains. The museum is easy to reach by either bus or on foot.

Seville's Museo de la Macarena is situated in the La Macarena area of Seville and close to the historic city walls. Probably the most important feature of this museum in the image of the Virgin Mary of Hope, often referred to as the Macarena. This wonderful statue of the Virgin Mary has been well preserved and is an important part of Easter celebrations, when it is paraded proudly through the streets of Seville. Other highlights include numerous Spanish works of arts, gold and silver works and many other exhibits. The museum is easy to reach by regular buses.
